Lake Como Ferry Question part 2

The train schedules are out for September 22 and we are ready to confirm the ferry schedule from Varenna to Como.

When I go to the navigazionelaghi.it site and pull up the summer schedule for May 27 - Sept 30, there is only one ferry from Varenna into Como leaving at 6:35 (we are trying to arrive to take the train from Como to Luzern at 10). There are several fast ferries out of Menaggio, but no others listed that morning from Varenna.

Am I missing something ?

Not missing anything.
Take the T102 (T= Traghetto=car ferry) departing Varenna at 7:35 and arriving at Menaggio at 7:50
Then from Menaggio take SR 107 (SR=Servizio Rapido=Fast service) departing Menaggio at 8:08 and arriving at Como at 8:57. You can also stay on the same car ferry till the next stop at Bellagio and catch the exact same SR 107 from Bellagio. Either way it works.

Thanks again Roberto!

I pulled up the car ferry list. If this is for a Saturday, I guess I use the Festivi so the first departure from Varenna is the 8:20 ?

Check out the notes at the bottom of the Colico-Como schedule. "Festivi" means Sundays and public holidays (June 2 and Aug 15). "Fer" means Monday to Saturday. "Gior" means everday.

Thank you Sam - I just saw "weekdays" and didn't use my google translate !

We've been on the Como ferries before, but this is our first time to plan an extended train trip up into Switzerland so I am trying to make sure I have all my ducks in a row.....

We just returned from our trip to Varenna and then on to Zurich. Here is how we got to San Giovanni train station in Como. We took the ferry to Bellagio and went to the bus stop right across from the dock where we got on the #30 bus to Como San Giovanni. It dropped us off at the entrance to the train station. We did make a trial trip to Bellagio to buy the bus tickets ( super cheap---I believe thet6 were about 7€) from a bar across from the docks. They have a sign in the window that states that bus tickets can be purchased there. I had investigated this whole thing online. I believe we took the 9:15 ferry to Bellagio and the 10:05 bus to the train station which arrived around 11:15. Our train was to depart at noon. It was a very pleasant trip as the bus hugs the coast. If you go, sit on the right side of the bus.

I giorni Feriali (workdays) in Italy are Monday through Saturday.

Saturday is also a school day.
Government offices are open on Saturday too.

Weekend for Italians is only Sunday, although some companies (e.g. banks) have adopted the Anglo Saxon short week.

So I don’t want to hear you guys saying that Italians are lazy. I had to migrate across the ocean to get an extra day off a week. I must be the epitome of laziness.
