Any recommendations on how to use the ferries to travel from Como to Bellagio and Varenna? Fast, slow, how to get tickets?
When are you going? The schedules vary by season, with reduced service in winter.
All the information you need is below.

If you click on the + next to Timetables you can also download all the timetables in PDF.
Note that the timetables available now are effective from June 5 until Nov 5, 2023. For the winter timetables you may have to wait a few more days. If you travel next summer, then use the ones available now, they won't change much next year.
I was there the first Monday in November 2022 and happen to have the ferry schedule from November 2,2020 in preparation for my November 2022 trip to get a sense of the schedule as I could not wait till the end of Oct to get the schedule. If you will be there the around the 1st of Nov I can get the schedule to you to get a send of what it will be as it was the exact same in 2020 as 2022.
Hi
Traveling to Lake Como in June 2024. I am looking at the ferry schedules that are only available until May 26,2024. Any idea when the June schedules become available? TY
Download the app "DreamLake", it will be for the ferry system on Como, Garda and Maggiore. Realize also that the different schedules have different stops/routes. Sometimes you can catch a ferry in Varenna that first travels to Menaggio then Bellagio.
Marc, I'm not seeing much in the app at this point. Am I missing schedule information somewhere?
Go to "Tickets & Timetables" select Como. There will then be a drop down menu for timetables. Middle Lake table will download as a PDF to your phone. The other links will give weekend schedules. Be mindful that all timetables have date ranges. It will change during season.
Ferry Boat Timetable - Weekdays will give you another schedule as well from Varenna, Bellagio & Menaggio.
That's odd. I don't see "Tickets and Timetables" anywhere.
hilstone - looks like they released a public notice a couple days ago that spring timetables are extended through June 23, 2024.

The timetables still show May 26th as the end point but ticketing allows you to purchase in June now.
We did the same trip and nearly had a problem,
We arrived at the ferry station early morning, bought a day pass, and took the first ferry to Bellagio. Walked around and had lunch. Then ferry to Varenna which is almost close enough to swim. Walked for 90 minutes and got back to the ferry station to take the next boat back, about 3 pm. We were told that the next (and last boat) was booked up - which was unexpected because we were unaware of any reservations and assumed our pass would be good. We ended up waiting and hour or two, taking a car ferry to Menagio then waiting another hour or two, and taking the last boat to Como. Had we missed that one, we would have had to take 2 hours of trains back to Como.
So check the schedule carefully. I guess arrive early. It might be bette to just stay up there in Bellagio or Varenna. Como is not a charming although it has markets and other normal city things much more.
