Lake como

We are planning a trip to lake como in July 2020. We like the central lake area. We have stayed in bellagio for a few days years ago. We are looking at bellagio, varenna and Menaggio as we want to be able to ferry around. Looking for recommendations.

Most of us here prefer to stay in Varenna as it has good Ferry service to other parts of the lake, good train service for getting back to Milan or where ever, and some really nice hotels.

You might find it helpful to have a look at the RS Italy guidebook as there's lots of good information there for sightseeing, transportation, hotels, etc. You should be able to find a copy of the book at your local Library, or you could buy the book in either "hard copy" or as an E-book.

The second time we stayed on Lake Como we stayed in Varenna at the Hotel Olivedo, which was very nice. The rooms were extremely clean and the staff was first-rate. The navetta (Ferry) is just in front of the property. It is also very handy to the train station. We cruised the lake a few times and really liked the experience.

As for Como, near the dock there is Gelatoria Lauriana, which serves huge portions of just outstanding gelato.

Buon viaggio,

Our first trip to Como we stayed in Bellagio and the next time we stayed at the: http://www.villabelvedererelais.it/en/

We flew into Milan both times and rented a car (easiest way to travel in Italy) This hotel was great as was their restaurant, amazing dinner.... free parking & a very short walk to the ferry to tour the lake with stops at all the nice little villages.

Hi,

Lake como is a must visit place if you are in Italy. You can easily visit this beautiful destination even from Milan, its just 40 mins away and if you are here then do visit Bellagio town which is really magnificent and awe- inspiring. Have a great time!!

We always stay in Bellagio. We enjoy the town and it's options for dining and shopping. Unless you are taking the train to Varenna than it's the obvious choice or you are planning to visit say Lugano then Menaggio. But we like the more lively Bellagio
