Hi everyone,
Would love your insight.
Would love to head to Milan and then Lake Como last week of Octobr.. Has anyone been there at that time? Are Places Still Open In Lake como?
Thank you
The info from weather.com, suggests for Lake Como ( Varenna) the hi/lo for end of Oct is low 60s and near freezing overnight.
Milan is a bit warmer, but not much. the night time low in upper 40s
Are you sure you want to go then?
Thank you.
Yes, it's the only week we can go.
Not interested in sun bathing, just nice days for sightseeing.
Hi we stayed in Bellagio,(which I highly recommend) two years ago in the third week of October. In the beginning of our trip the weather was a little bit chilly averaging about 50 to 60°F however toward the lmiddle of our trip it actually hit into the mid 60s and it was warm. As we spoke with some of the locals, they were gearing up to close some of the shops, that was basically the end of the season.....however there were still many many shops that were open, Many restaurants seemed to have abbreviated hours, with some of the restaurants closing early. We had an incredible time and may have been lucky, However I would go back again in October or any month .... Good luck and have a great trip....
Thank you so much for your feedback.
Did you take the train from Milan or rent a car?
Hi,
I am an Oklahoma lawyer but I go often with my family all year round to lake Como because we have a house there. My son and I in fact went there in early January this year. It was still fantastic. Just as beautiful, decorated for Christmas, with plenty of things to do. We ate and shopped in Bellagio without crowds, enjoyed Mennagio's celebrations--always something there in the town square- and drove down to Como town to enjoy the great places for dinner at night. In October, it would be lovely, with flowers still blooming, Michelin star restaurants still open, beautiful walks along in the surrounding Alps easier. We have been at every time of year. There is no bad time. It's always breathtakingly beautiful and full of surprises around every corner. It's my favorite place on earth.
Very easy to take train from Milan to Varenna
From Varenna there are passenger ferries to Mennagio and Bellagio
