I will be in italy for 9 days, i am going to start out in Lake Como then head to Ciqnue Terra then to Florence and end in Rome, do the trains go to all of these places or will i have to search for other transportation?

Trains go to all those places, you don't need any to search for other transportation.It will pay you to get to know this website, it's the most user friendly site for seeing train schedules http://www.bahn.de/international/view/en/index.shtml.There's also the official trenitalia website, a little bit less user friendly and it rejects almost all US credit cards (there's one exception to that). Almost everyone here buys point to point train tickets when they get to Italy.
