Hello!
We'll be visiting Lake Como June 11-14 and would love some suggestions for what to add to our itinerary. We arrive in Milan at 0730 on an overnight flight. From there we'll take the train to Como where we will pick up a rental car which is somewhat necessary being as we will be staying in Schignano, up above Argegno. We are an active, outdoorsy family of three with a 13 year old. We booked our Schignano accommodations because they offer STUNNING views of of the lake while allowing us to be away from the crowds. We prefer to avoid the busiest spots and don't feel a strong desire to tour villas, etc. For one of our days there, we have booked a boat so we can spend 4 hours on the lake enjoying beautiful scenery from a different vantage point. Being that we'll be fighting jet lag during our time there, we aren't unhappy about spending a fair amount of time just enjoying the views from our accommodations, but we would like to see a few sites and enjoy a few meals out as well. We have one full day with nothing planned. We can always head down to Argegno and catch the ferry to Bellagio/Varenna/etc., but we'd love to hear suggestions for alternative options. In Argegno there is a company that offers a half day vespa tour that we were tempted by. Has anyone done this or something similar? Or can you recommend a hike? We'd also love to hear about any recommended lunch or dinner spots with great views and great food. We don't mind driving off the beaten path for any options, provided we aren't headed in a direction that is likely to leave us sitting in traffic. We do enough of that at home!
Can't wait to hear your thoughts! Thanks so much!
