Lake Como accommodations

Focusing in on Hotel Olivedo for 5 of us June 12-14, 2025. Any input or other accommodations recommendations?

We are arriving by rail from Pontresina Switzerland and welcome ANY and ALL ideas!!!

What are your criteria for choosing Hotel Olivedo? I don’t feel the location is great—-it is not right on the lake but set well back, with a good bit of pavement (street and parking area for the ferry dock) between you and the water.

We have only stayed at Albergo Milano in Varenna, and I would choose it again if returning.

Depending on the ages of your group, you may have trouble finding a place that will accommodate all 5 in one room or apartment. But I checked Albergo Milano and they offered two of their associated apartments for a family of 3 adults and 2 teens. That might change if there are 5 adults.

I agree with Lola, look for a hotel with a better lake view, and away from the parking lot.
We like Hotel du Lac, and will be returning next spring. You're in for a treat with all the beautiful areas you'll be visiting.
Safe travels.

MANY THANKS!!! I have tried Hotel Du Lac and they advise to try again perhaps late November?

Greatly appreciate your valuable input re Olivedo!

Lots of small hotels in Italy are not taking reservations for next year yet. They are busy with taking care of this year’s guests. And some like to give those guests first crack at booking next year.

I am also waiting for the Hotel du Lac to open spring reservations!

I'm another who doesn't think that Hotel Olivedo is in the best spot, and it is likely to be fairly noisy too due to the ferries.

We are staying at Hotel du Lac in late September. I contacted them last June (2023) and they said to get back in November. We did that and were able to book then for this September.

They definitely fill up very, very quickly.

Many thanks everyone - truly helpful! As much as I want Hotel Du Lac and PRAY that Inca. Make it happen when I reach out to them mid/late November….I feel that I need to book something equally unique and wonderful now.

There are 5 family members and we are hoping to find 3 rooms in the Varenna area for 2 nights Jun 12-14, 2025.

Any input or ideas are warmly welcomed!!

Ciao! With thanks for input - I have been able to secure Hotel Fioroni in Bellagio OR Hotel Riviera in Cadenabbia due Griante….ANY INPUT OR INFORMATION WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Looking for something a bit more tranquil than the Olivedo at the ferry stop as you have mentioned it might be noisy. Many many thanks!!
