Lake Como Accommodation recs

Hi all!
A couple questions about places to stay on Lake Como in July 2020 --

I have read other forum topics, have RS's Italy guidebook, and have spent days sending out inquiries. Some don't even book yet (too early), and others' prices are steeper than currently showing.

Looking for a place with a lake view for 3 (spouse, teen & I), preferably with balcony or terrace & some character, but something that doesn't blow the bank. We love Varenna (Hotel du Lac already told me they're booked). Would love to get 2 separate rooms for privacy's sake and to have space to spread out, but would also consider a suite if it's not cramped, or even an apartment/room, if booking with them is safe & reliable.

Please send recommendations & why you liked the place.

I'd hate to splurge on a place, then find that I'm smelling the fumes from ferries from our balcony.

Thanks!

We recently stayed in Varenna “Casa Bella”,
Apartment, with bedroom and convertible sofa in lounge. Balcony.
Shower over bath, washer, small kitchen, fans, but didn’t need aircon.
Check it out on Booking. Com

This is central in the village, not at the ferry.

Luigi picked us up at the station.

I recommended it and it might suit.
And also, ask for his restaurant recommendations.

We enjoyed Hotel Belvedere. We stayed in the hotel. They will pick you and your luggage up in town, down at the waterfront. Family owned and operated for generations through the women of the family. The current matriarch introduced herself to us and shared their story. The hotel is up on the ridge, so no noise or fumes. We had a lake view on the back. When it’s time to return to Lake Como, this is where we’ll stay.

Thank you both.

The hotels are too pricey, so we're looking into Casa Bella (Thanks Gerard) and other apartments with a lake view balcony/terrace.

Any further suggestions on apartments with lake views (must accommodate 3 people) are still appreciated.

Thanks!

We stayed in Varenna at Eremo Gaudio with the most gorgeous view you can imagine. Price was moderate!

Thanks for the additional comments. Unfortunately, Eremo Gaudio has closed down & Hotel Garni Corona looks nice, but the beds aren’t in separate rooms.
Would love recs for hotels with 2 separate bedrooms (separated by a door) or an apartment with same. Would prefer a lake view, but will consider a peaceful place with a hillside or other non- lake view.
Thanks!

We stayed at the Hotel du Lac in Varenna and it was awesome. Not cheap, but the location is great. Too bad it’s booked
