Can one take the centovalli train to Locarno with boat back to Stresa in the beginning of Oct? I have been trying to find out on various web sites but have had no luck trying to find that itinerary with schedules.

I found the following statement when I tried to find the schedule for October 4: "We are still setting the timetable over 31.07.2021. For more information please contact [email protected]"
So it looks as if you need to wait a few more weeks. As far as I know, that train runs all year round and trains are reasonably frequent, but it has been decades since I last made the trip.
I've been unable to confirm that the boats travel all the way from Locarno to Stresa in October, though they may.

I think you are better off doing the reverse, boat options are few and you may want to get that out of the way first thing, or you might miss the boat back.
The boat that requires no changes is only twice a day (one in the morning and one in the afternoon) and not every day. The first one from Stresa to Locarno departs around 11am and arrives in the early afternoon (only weekends and maybe another day a week).
Trains are numerous however, so once you get to Locarno, you have several Centovalli train options to get to Domo in the afternoon and then plenty from Domo to Stresa.
