Lago maggiore hotel?

We will be in the Lago Maggiore area is May. We are looking for a suggestion for a good, not-too-expensive hotel or BnB. Some of those places are really astronomical! Thanks to all the Rick Steves community.

I'm assuming you're wanting to stay in Stresa. If so, consider Hotel Flora. Slightly off the beaten path but still walking distance along the promenade to all the action. It's not waterfront but just a short walk to the water. Good breakfast and friendly staff. Basic but comfortable and clean room. https://www.hotelflorastresa.com/en/index

it's a busy time nowdays with many traveling , doesn't seem like low season at all in italy and other european countries/cities/towns.
i would look at booking.com, see what's available in your price range, email them or book on their own site. happy hunting

I stayed at Hotel du Parc in 2023. It's up on the hill (same level as the train station) but an easy walk to the center.

The first time I stayed in Stresa, we stayed at Hotel Boston - a budget place. It’s €148 for two nights in October. It’s a no-frills place that’s half a block off of the main road promenade and handy to walk to the train station.

I’ve been back to Stresa several times and stayed a couple of times atthe hotel Roberto mentioned, plus a tiny boutique hotel out on tiny Isola Bella - my favorite place in northern Italy to get over jet lag.

We stayed on the Isola Pescatoria at Albergo Verbano many years ago and it remains one of my fondest hotel memories. We spent jet lag day on the lovely terrace with views of the mountains, reading. They have a restaurant. You park on. shore and take a boat to the island.

We stayed in Baveno — the next town north of Stresa, smaller and quieter — and loved the Hotel Rigoli. Small, family-owned, right on the water. For us, it was perfect. We had a small balcony outside our room. I highly recommend it.
