We just returned from Italy and thanks to Gianni the owner of Saini Meuble in Stresa we learned of a deal that I had not heard of before. When you purchase the Lago Maggioge Express package (boat to Locarno, train from Locarno to Domodosolla and then train to Stresa or reverse), you can purchase a 2-day package which gives you unlimited boat travel the second day to visit any of the islands. It would cost 12.50 euro on your own but it is only 6 euro with the package.

Dan, I'll be in Stresa in September. What does the 2-day Lago Maggiore Express package cost? Thanks for the tip.

What an incredible coincidence!!! I also just returned from Stresa and Gianni obtained the same ticket package for me. The tickets were delivered to the Hotel within half an hour.
Gianni was very helpful and I'm looking forward to staying there again.

The price for the package is 36 euro. That's great Ken that you did the same thing. Gianni is great, it was like having our own concierge. Forgot to mention that he also got our ticket for us because we had missed the deadline for ordering them. He had them delivered right to the hotel and gave them to us at breakfast the next morning.
