Anyone have any thoughts please?
Check ViaMichelin for driving information. The drive takes about 4 hours. Gas plus tolls about 60 Euro. Need an IDP.
Trenitalia - trains take about 6 to 7 hours. 30 Euro per person.
Why would anybody in their right mind want to drive to Cinque Terre when there are perfectly good trains that can do the same, and save you the hassle of having to find a place to park the thing once you get there.
If you are at lake Garda with a car, it makes sense to drive.
It’s mostly freeway but, depending on the exact departure and arrival point, still a long and boring 4-5 hour drive plus pit stops
There are parking facilities at Monterosso, Riomaggiore, and of course La Spezia.
Vernazza, Manarola, and Corniglia have limited parking options.
You won’t need a car at the Cinque Terre, so expect to keep it parked the whole time. Parking rates are approximately 25€+ per day.
