First, sorry if this is a repeat...I know there was a previous thread on this topic, but I can't find it..
I was looking at the information about the Vatican on tickitaly.com, and they said "no short trousers". Does that mean capris are not acceptable? I know no shorts or bare shoulders, but the thought of long pants in Rome in August is daunting.

Capris should be fine. They just want no bare knees or shoulders.
Lisa look into getting a convertable type travel pants. Exioffico have some great light weight ones. You can also order some through www.rei.com that zip off and on easily. Capris are fine I wore mine everywhere. The convertables are nice because you can change them into shorts while standing in line takes about a minute or two to unzip. Putting them back on a little more challanging but worth it.
