Hi there, my fiance and i are finalizing our decision about our stay in cinque terre, and we're leaning heavily towards staying at La Torretta in Manarola but our 2nd choice is Aria di Mare. anyway, we're trying to get some feedback form people who have stayed outside the "main house" at La Torretta...the description of the room available that they gave us is this: - a junior "terrace" suite 1 queen bed with separate living area, tv sat plasma, stereo, minibar, "NESPRESSO" coffee machine, iPOD docking station, small en suite bathroom(cascade walk in shower), fan(no AC), private terrace amazing full sea view, for 190 Euro/night/room (this > bedroom is outside the main House 2 minutes walk) so has anyone stayed in this particular suite or in one of the locations OUTSIDE the main house? any drawbacks? our 2nd choice of hotel right now is Aria Di Mare and and the description of this room is: This room is the top room of ' Aria di Mare'.(have a private terrace). this is a ton cheaper and we know much more basic but it looks great too! we're thinking of "splurging" since its our honeymoon but we're not sure if La Torretta is totally worth it. any feedback would be great! thanks,
Carla
We stayed at La Torretta for 2 nights and hated to leave. It is a lovely hotel and Manarola is a beautiful location. We had a balcony wit hour room and enjoyed brreakfast and end-of-the -day drinks out there. Our room was in the main building (although accessed by outside stairs) so I can't speak to the suites in the separate building. There are photos (and reviews) of both La Torretta and Aria di Mare on Tripadvisor-you might have a look. The views are stunning from either one, but from the photos the rooms at Aria di Mare are not as beautifully furnished as La Torretta (and we had just a "classic" room there.) Gabriele is a charming host, and there are some free things included at la Torretta-our minibar was free, plus the glass of prosecco on arrrival, and one evening of wine tasting, with wonderful antipasto. La Torretta is definitely honeymoon quality. But if it would stress you to pay 190 euros for your room, Aria di mare looks like an excellent choice. I'd say Cimque Terre is more about the views than the room itself.
