Hello!
We are traveling from Venice to Cinque Terre by train, connecting through Florence and La Spezia. ( A scheduling error I now regret but too late to change!) However, this question pertains to our train ticket, specifically the connection in La Spezia which shows 5 minutes. Is this possible? Will look at other options but thought this was a good place to start. Thanks!
La spezia is a small station, so 5 minutes could work. But if not, your ticket is good for any regional train that day, they are frequent, just hop on the next one. You can use the Trenitalia app or site to get a sense of departures.
Yes, it is possible. Be ready with your luggage, by the door, when the train stops and move along quickly. If you booked your journey as one ticket and your train is late, they will allow you to take the next train.
Thanks for the reassurance! No more concerns : )
If you get the Trenitalia app you should know what platform your next train will at before you get off the train. Tracking your next train in the app should let you know if it is running early/late and what platform it will be using in La Spezia before you get off the train,
La Spezia station only has a few tracks so best case scenario you just cross the platform and board (or wait for) a train on the same platform. Worst case you will need to go down the stairs, cross under the track and climb the stairs to the other platform. I believe it's odd even so 7/6, 5/4, 3/2 tracks share a platform and track 1 is the platform as you enter.
Hope that helps, good luck!
