La Scala sold out-how to get tickets?

+
I will be in Milan Dec 8-11 and very much want to see Tosca at La Scala. Unfortunately, it is sold out all those nights, according to the box office. Any ideas on how to get tickets to a sold out show?

As soon as you get there, go to the box office. Sometimes last min tickets show up. We got tickets in Budapest this way. But mostly when we decide to go to Europe, we look 3-4 months in advance. 1 week for La Scala? Pretty short.

Toscanini? As in Arturo, the world famous conductor who died in 1957? Or do you mean the opera Tosca?

In any case, from personal experience I'll advise that the lower-priced seats in La Scala are very narrow with very little leg room. Hence, if you're lucky enough to get last minute tickets at the box office and they happen to be in a more expensive section, rest assured they are worth it.

Also, to fully enjoy an evening concert/opera in Europe without involuntarily dozing off, try to take a 20-min power nap, eat only a light dinner, and avoid alcohol but opt for coffee before curtain time. You may think you've recovered from jet lag, but your body might not have.

The new season at La Scala opens on Dec. 7th (St. Ambrose), that night being the most sought and expensive ticket in all Italy, all the time. The second perfromance this year is on Dec. 10th, and also that gets sold very quickly. I am told that usually La Scala is never completely sold out, but you have chosen the most difficult week in the year.
As for Toscanini, he does not conduct anymore. A little museum of his memorabilia is in his birth home in Parma.

Guess I should have proofed my typing since autocorrect incorrectly chose Toscanini for me. Yes, Tosca is playing, I’m over on business and just found out about the trip so three months in advance wasn’t an option. I was curious what options exist for getting a ticket to a sold out show there since
I’ve not done so in Europe. I agree that opening night is a harder ticket to get so if anyone has a suggestion on how to get a ticket for the 10th, it would be most appreciated. In the states, I’d hit Groupon or Nextdoor or another peer site. I have no idea if options like that exist in Milan. Anyone know?

Thanks again for the replies and help!
