La Scala- intermission- can you leave and come back?

My parents and wife are going to an opera at La Scala next month. My wife wants to see the theater and is interested in the opera, but not super interested- and same with me. We have a 2 year old so we can't all go. I was wondering if tickets are allowed re-entry so my wife and I can trade watching our daughter and watching the opera at halftime.

Thanks,

Aaron

Yeah, definitely because it is more about seeing the theater and the setting than getting to the end. Plus, if we can't switch out, I won't be going at all, so I'll take 1/2 over 0/2. Also, we have to get on a train to the airport at 430am the next morning and my wife would love to get to bed a little earlier for our 24 hours of travel back to Hawaii.

I saw an opera at La Fenice, not La Scala, but plenty of people went outside for a glass of wine at a nearby cafe and then came back in. I imagine you could do the same as long as you had the ticket.

However, might a guided tour of the opera house during the day be a better option?

I have to agree with Melissa. If you are only interested in the building, not the Opera, then go during the day time.

Thanks a lot David. I really appreciate it. We'll do the kid/ticket switch on the downlow. :-) That is exactly what I was looking for.

Hope your tickets are not in the Galleria section. We could not go into the lobby. Had to walk around the corner to a side door, then climb 6 (six) flights of stairs to get to the gallery area! We never saw the lobby, decorations, anything. Very disappointing. Needless to say, we did not try to go down at intermission! Lesson learned ...
