So La Scala tickets went on sale today and I got up early to buy them but already the cheapest tickets available are 120.00 Euros. Also the website shows the cheapest tickets as being 12.00 Euros but that doesn't show as being one of the levels on the booking page. Does anyone know how to get those cheap seats?
Those must be the " nosebleed" seats in the gallery that go on sale the day of the performance. Look under " sale of gallery tickets" on the La Scala website for information on how to put your name in the queue for the tickets. You do it starting at 1:00 pm the day of the performance. No guarantee you will get one ( or two). Regular seat that are still unsold one month before the performance go on sale at 25% discount. You might read up on that opportunity on the website too. Again, no guarantees, especially if you are looking for several seats together.
Thanks Lola. I could have done 26.00 Euros but those were all gone and 120.00 is too steep. Maybe I'll check La Fenice.
Let me know what you find at La Fenice. We will be in Venice next year and I was looking at the schedule, but my husband says they are as expensive as La Scala or more so. We went to La Scala last year with our daughters, to ballet not opera. We went online at midnight when the tickets went on sale, and ended up with seats in a box for 120 euros each. It was a splurge/treat for the girls and we really enjoyed it. The four of us had the box to ourselves, so we could shift around in the seats to give everyone a view. Nor sure we would pay that to go again, but it was really fun once. ( we balanced the cost against the great picnic dinner we had before the ballet, with wonderful foccacia sandwiches from Princi's and a broccoli salad and bottle of wine from the deli across the street. Total cost for the dinner for four, with the wine, was 26 euros.
Lola, Unfortunately nothing is playing at La Fenice while we are in Venice. Rigoletto closes the day before we get there.
