Does anyone have any feedback on the following hotels we have booked? Pensione La Calcina in Venice, Hotel Centrale in Florence and Il Nido in Sorrento? It is our first trip and these all look great and got good reviews on tripadvisor but wanted to see if anyone on this board has any experience with any of these.
Thanks,
Terry in NY
I stayed at La Calcina in Venice and it was very nice. I don't recall though how many stars it had, but I did feel that the ratings of hotels in Italy were different that those in the U.S. The ratings of all of the hotels that I stayed at in Italy were nice, but not as nice as I had expected--not as nice as hotels with comparable ratings in the U.S.
We have stayed at LaCalcina twice and liked it for the quiet location. Breakfasts are very good and there is a small rooftop terrace.
Il Nido has had favorable posts on this board. just use search feature, same for La Calcina.
Thanks for all the feedback!
Hi Terry,
I stayed at Il Nido a few yrs ago with 2 friends. Our triple room was very clean, comfortable with a small balcony with fabulous views. We had a car but parked it there and did not use it again until we left. It is not in town but rather in the hills above Sorrento. this was not a problem at all because there was a frequent convenient shuttle. We chose to have dinner there one night and it was delicious.
We were traveling on a budget and it was very reasonable.
il nido gets our vote also. we loved this place. great food, great views, hardworking staff and the shuttle was a nice touch. good luck:):)
