what kind of "kid friendly" things are there to do/see in italy this summer? we are traveling in august with out 3 and 1 year old to portofino, lucca and pisa. any suggestions?
Local Italian playgrounds. If you haven't traveled with kids, before, you probably never noticed them. But they're everywhere - on top of the Wall in Lucca, and hidden back behind the Lista di Spagna in Venice for example. They usually have swings, some type of small climbing structures and, best of all, other kids.
You'll also see carousels everywhere which your 3-year old should at least appreciate. And, the number one activity for small children - chasing pigeons in a piazza!
thanks for the reply. something as simple as playgrounds i probably would have overlooked. it's just right though. i'll be looking for them.
I agree with the first poster; my 8 year old daughter went on about 5 different carousels on our last trip to France/Spain. She also loved playing on the playgrounds which have very different types of equipment than what we have here-making it even more fun! She also interacted with the other kids, even though she could not communicate with them.
We recently travelled with out 7month old to Italy..and she enjoyed it soo much- just watching the pigeons in the piazza was great entertainment...plus the locals are sooo kid friendly...we got to interact with the locals and their children....also like the others said- small parks and open piazzas are a lot of fun for young children..
