We've also rented from Kemwel many times and had a good experience. For Puglia we picked up our rental car in Lecce (spent 4 nights there with day trips to the southern coastal area with stops in Otranto and Gallipoli.) Then stayed 2 nights near Martina Franca (day trips to Locorotundo and Alberobello), 2 nights in Matera, and on to Rome for a few nights with an overnight stop in Tivoli along the way. Puglia is a wonderful region to explore. We didn't visit areas north of Bari but would like to do so on another trip. You might re-post if you have more questions about travel in Puglia.

Hi - we have used Kemwel several times to rent in Italy. They are the sister company of Autoeurope. We had used Autoeurope in the past but found that Kemwel offers better rates. They are actually brokers and they decide the company you rent from. This past May we got a car from Hertz through Kemwel. In the past we have been given cars from Europcar. They are both great to deal with and we have never had any problems. They are located in the US - in Maine - and they have an 800 telephone number. After you book, keep an eye on the rates for your rental time period. If you see that the rates drop, just call them and they will give you the new lower rate. Also, look for a rate that includes "no deductible" so you are covered for accidents with nothing out of pocket. Good luck.

Janet, Thanks so much for the info. Now I feel more confident. Have you been to the Puglia region of Italy? If so, any suggestions will also be greatly appreciated. I am looking forward to our trip in southern Italy.

We reserved rental car through Kemwel for our April trip as they had the best rate. 4 Days with 100% CDW was only $200.00. Rental was through Hertz for pickup in LaSpezia and turned the car back in 4 days later in Orvieto. We had zero deductable CDW, and after a minor incident in attempt to back out of a parking spot (hubby shifted into drive instead of reverse), am glad we have the full coverage. When we turned the car in, Hertz inspected the car, made a note of the scrapes on the front bumper, and not a question was asked. I like reserving car rentals through AutoEurope or Kemwal as you can ask questions and confirm exactly what's included or not included.

Karen, I really appreciate your input. Did you enjoy CT? It wasn't my favorite but better than working. Lorie
