Katti House in Florence

Has anyone been able to contact them? They are a highly rated B&B according to Rick and I've tried to contact them for a reservation for this summer. It's been almost a month and still no response to my inquiry. I've sent two emails: the first was a standard reservation request available on their website; the second was a personal email. Does anyone know if they are still in business?

OK -- I'll try contacting them a 3rd time. Hopefully, they will respond

Hi Bob, We are also booked into a resort in Umbria and I tried to phone them yesterday. There was a recording that they were closed for the month of January. I think that I have read that this is fairly common in Italy for hotels to close for January. This may be what's going on in your case. Try in early Feb. Cheers, Sherry

I was wondering if that could be the case. I'll try next month

I stayed there last spring, and it was a pretty nice place. She seemed a bit overrun and a little disorganized at the time (it's Italy, remember?). Her daughter, Katti, just opened a restaurant down the road, and she was spending a lot of time there helping out. That might be the case.
On that note, she told me that Rick was going to list that Restaurant in his 2012 book, so if he did (don't know, don't have it), you might be able to reach her (or Katti) there. Good Luck!

Have you been able to reach them yet? I haven't heard from my hotel in Rome either? Do they not reply to emails????

Yes - It's not in my spam folder. Good suggestion, though. I'm just going to wait a couple more weeks and then try to contact them again both on their site and through the cafe. I might even try calling them. It's not that expensive. If I still can't get in touch with them by then, I'll start looking for another place.
Thanks for all the advice. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Have you checked your spam folder. Sometimes international emails may wind up there.

I tried to book with Katti House for 4/1/12 week, but I found accommodations a block away for substantially less. I do plan on visiting their restaurant, however. AirBnB.com is a great place to find very reasonable accommodations just about anywhere--including Florence. Booking.com is another place with a bunch of Florence hotels.

After not getting an answer to my e-mails, I ended up calling the Tratorria, spoke with the daughter, who asked that I send my e-mail again, and I got an immediate confirmation.

Yes, I should have written a final response last year. We stayed with them last summer and thoroughly enjoyed it. Had dinner at their trattoria and met both mom and daughter --- really nice people and a great meal too.
If we go back to Florence, we'll stay there again. It's a great central location.

I looked into staying at Katti House last year, however they were a little expensive. I found a really nice hotel across from the train station for substantially less than Katti House a few blocks away. Now, the hotel we were in is priced twice what we paid.
Katti House is looking better all the time. And the food is supposedly very good.
