Katie Parla’s tours in Rome? New itinerary for Eating Rome?

Has anyone taken any of Katie Parla’s food tours in Rome? What was your experience like? Would you recommend them? I’d love as much detail as you care to share.
Also, has anyone taken the newest Eating Rome tour, Eternal Rome: Jewish Ghetto, Campo de Fiori, and Trestevere? I’m not seeing any reviews of this yet.
We have a credit from 2020 for Eating Rome, and originally planned to take the Taste of Testaccio tour as it’s slightly off the beaten path. But the Eternal Rome tour begins at Campo de Fiori, where we’re staying, and could provide a nice orientation to the city on our first full day (day after our arrival day). Trying to decide…
I stumbled onto Katie Parla when trying to research a private guide for Rome. We’d love to hire a private guide for either ancient sites or perhaps neighborhood Rome. We had booked with Francesca Caruso on the ill fated 2020 trip, but she hasn’t replied to my emails this time around. We are NOT interested in a Vatican tour, and most of the guide review I’m seeing talk about guides who have given amazing a Vatican tours.
I’d also love recommendations for a guide for the Borghese Gallery. Just beginning to plan the details of this trip (beginning of May 2024) and as you can tell I’m all over the map at this point.
Thank you!

When we were in Rome over the New Years’ holiday 2020, we tried to book eating tours with no success due to “holidays.”No luck with Elizabeth or Sophie Minchilli or Katie Parla. They were not doing tours as it was a holiday. The only one available was on a Sunday and it was for the Jewish Ghetto and Campo Fiore with Eating Rome, a tour that had not interested us; we signed up! Travestere was not part of this tour. The first two areas we did cover filled the time and more. It was wonderful! We went to new for us areas of Rome with an exuberant local guide.
We had a great tour, learned a lot and highly recommend it! I still have the post tour notes the guide sent us. Just writing this post makes me smile! We usually do not hire guides and it was the “eating tour” that interested us.
Is this your first time in Rome? A guide isn’t necessary for the Borghese Gallery. A good guide book is enough. Enjoy Rome, one of my favorite cities.

We are taking the Roman Cuisine in the Centro Storico eating tour with Katie Parla this upcoming week. She agreed to include parts of the Jewish Ghetto too. We are really looking forward to it and I’m happy to follow-up here with how it went.

Thanks, Suki! Their tours have gotten really good reviews and we’re definitely going to do one of them since we have the vouchers. Glad to know that the newer itinerary is also a good one. Thank you!

Hi! Just wanted to follow-up and let you know we really enjoyed our food tour with Katie Parla. We had some really great food with her and she also provided interesting historical information about the area. She's got a great dry sense of humor and is obviously quite smart. Highly recommend.
