Just purchased Vatican Museum / Sistine Chapel tickets for February

I feel that I am in the Twilight Zone. I was playing around on the official Vatican site to get a feel for it prior to the date two months prior to my visit when I could actually buy tickets. And what to my wondering eyes should appear, but tickets available on my selected date at the end of February. The guided tour was unavailable but I could book entrance tickets and audio guide. Since I have a small window when I am free to tour the Vatican I went ahead and bought the tickets. Is this normal that tickets are available more than three months in advance? Was it a divine intervention? And yes, I printed the tickets and triple checked the date :)

The Vatican has been releasing general admission tickets months in advance since this summer when they released tickets through December 31. We bought tickets for November 30th in early July. The guided tour tickets, however, do not go on sale until 60 days before.

It just took me by surprise because my RS pre-tour docs said that tickets were available on the official site two months prior.

The change from 60 days for general admission tickets was just begun this past July. Who knows what they will do going forward? I always keep abreast of a variety of travel forums when I am planning a trip…so much valuable information and heads-ups available.
