June Weather in Italy

I have been buying clothes for our June trip, careful to buy casual knit dresses, skirts due to not much shorts there. Then came home today and looked up weather in June there and found it to be cooler than I would have expected. With highs in mid 70s and lows to be chilly. So much for the cute little cami tops, etc. Looks like lgihweight jackets may be in order. Anyone have any advice for dressing for June?

This weather table http://tours.ricksteves.com/tours09/weather.cfm gives the "average" temps in June, daily high and low, for several locations in Italy. 75 to 80 in the afternoons. Daily low in weather charts refers to the temp at 4am. Many travelers think it's pretty warm during the day, when they're out, in Rome in June.

When we were in Florence last June the temperature was in the high 90s. So much for averages ...

Hi Paige. The best info for weather I found was at:

http://www.wunderground.com/tripplanner/index.asp

You can indicate your location and dates. You get stats from the past 10 years on weather, precipitation, humidity, every stat you might want. I have used it frequently; while the current year might be warmer or cooler, the site can also give you the current weather. For my upcoming trip to Italy, I looked up the weather in 3 main cities at the beginning, middle and end of the trip to get a good idea of what I might be packing for. I found with travel that I can bring some lighter clothes, but plan for layers. You can use your cami as a bottom layer, begin the day with a blouse over your cami and a sweater. I always have my rain jacket in my backpack if I am not wearing it, I have been soaked a few times because I didn't have my rainjacket with me. Happy travels. June

We always go in June and I bring a light unlined jacket, a simple sweater, skirts, slacks (both capri length & ankle) with a variety of shirts & a sundress & slightly dressier one. The evenings are fairly mild unless you get a sea breeze. That said I've been rained on in Tuscany & sweltered in Positano but never really cold. Bring good shoes for walking on cobblestones.

I was also in Florence in June 08 & as Beatrix said the avg prediction was way off. Be as prepared as possible as you might hit hot weather, so don't limit yourself. Have a great trip!
