June train travels

Hello,

Like someone else earlier, I am confused about booking train tickets for June 23. If I am correct, purchase the non regional now , because they are available. Then purchase the regionals once we are in Italy. Because ther schedules are not out yet. We are traveling between Verona and Varenna. And then on to Venice by train. Thanks for the help

We are traveling between Verona and Varenna.

Do you mean you are traveling from Varenna to Verona, or the other way around, or round trip?
It could actually be done with all regional trains without loosing much time.

We are dropping of rental car at Verona airport. Then taking train to Varenna. Prefer fast trains as much as possible. When looking at schedules in May, connection times seemed better. Knowing that the trains between Milan and Varenna don't change. Will schedules change or additional trains be added when the summer schedules come out?

Around the first week of June the complete schedules will be uploaded on trenitalia.com, why don't you just wait and then purchase on-line all the tickets you need? The summer schedules will be similar to the winter ones and trains do not sell out.

Fast trains on non high speed lines aren't that faster than the regionale and discounts for advance purchases are minimal.

Hi Richard. I will piggy back on darioalb's advice. I often buy tix in advance if there is a big saving. But for Verona to Varenna, the most you could save per ticket would be 10 Euro. Not worth locking yourself into a specific train three months from now to save 10 Euro; just wait and buy your tix in Italy. There is huge capacity so no need to worry about trains selling out. Enjoy your trip!
