I've asked a numnber of questions but I also would like to know about the weather in Rome in June. We can either fly into Rome about June 6th and then drive up towards Cinque Terre or go to Cinque Terre first and end up in Rome by about the 16th or 17th of June. We really don't like hot muggy weather, but will it make that much difference in that 2 week time frame?
Check weather.com for average conditions. If I were you, I would do Rome first, then the CT. But why would you drive to the CT instead of taking the train?
There is nobody in this forum capable to predict the weather in Rome next June 6th or June 17th. All I can tell you is that the average max temp on June 6th is 83, while the average for June 16th is 85. However in record years max temperatures can reach the mid 90's while average min temp are as low as the 50's at night.
Four years ago we were in Rome the first week of June and were unprepared for weather so cold that sidewalk cafes did not open. Had no jackets and only short sleeve shirts. The next year, the exact same time, we were better prepared so, of course, it was in 90s and very humid the entire time. Unfortunately you always need to be prepared for a range of temperatures. But I would bet that the weather in mid June will be hot and muggy.
We were in Rome, in June, 2011. We were there for seven nights. It was beyond miserable with the heat and humidity. Even though our lovely hotel had a/c, it was so uncomfortable outside. Many of the restaurants don't have a/c either. Plus, Italy's idea of a/c, isn't the same as what Americans consider comfortable. There were so many tourists (like us) that everywhere we went, was crowded with sweaty, hot people. For some reason, there are no limits on the number of people, who are allowed in the Vatican. We were on a day tour and were allowed to move faster in the line. It was absolutely suffocating inside the Vatican, with so many people.
