For the announced June 25 strike in Italy (we'll be in Rome) do you know what will be closed or whether transportation will be unavailable? We are planning to go to Borghese Gallery that morning, Vatican Museum that evening, and aren't keen on walking that far!
These two places are only 1.4 miles apart. Cabs will be running.
Yep, a taxi is the way to go! But, beware that Rome taxi drivers are a crooked bunch. Only get a taxi from an official taxi stand. Have an idea of where you are going and how to get there in case you are taken the "long way" to your destination. You want to question any unnecessary detours. Also, watch for "quick change" artists. One taxi driver took me for 20 Euro as he switched bills on me and claimed I only gave him 5 Euro. Make a note of what you are handing him. Also, watch the meter as you arrive at your destination. Some will flick a switch and bump up your fare. Question this if it happens. Pay from the meter.
Thanks for the tips. I'll look for official taxis and watch for scammers. I appreciate hearing about that! So, I guess museums and such will not be closed as part of the strike?
So will all public transportation be down for the day? Will the metros run in the morning during commuter time?.

I found this link - it does not reference any local transport being affected on June 25. Does anyone have links to more information?
