July 29-31---Should we go Cinque Terre or will it be too busy?

We are planning a "late" honeymoon trip to italy and france. We will be in Italy the first week and planning on flying into Rome...then a train to Florence and then a day or two driving in tuscany. We then wanted to finish up around the coast as we both love the coast.

my concern is that CT will be just too overcrowded and just not fun. Are there any suggestions? I was even considering La Marche but my wife is in love with the pictures of CT, Portofino, etc. Please any help would be appreciated. There's almost too much to see!

Of course it will be busy. It's the peak of the peak season. Train rides between the towns can be packed with standing only passengers. It's Disneyland Italian style. However, "too busy" is a matter of preferences. For many, a lot of people is not a distraction. It's just the way it is there in the summer. All of the beauty is still there. For others, crowds are a distraction. It's your preferences that count. If a few thousand people bother you, wait until you walk around the historical area of Florence.
