Jubilee

I happened upon an article that started that Italy ) probably especially Rome) will be very crowded in 2025 for the Jubilee. We are considering going to Italy in September-October and will primarily be in Tuscany and Umbria. Will those areas see enough traffic that it might be prudent to hold things of until the spring?

Thanks

It will be just as crowded in the Spring. Italy is popular with tourists, no matter what the Pope does at the Vatican. Go when you wish.

We just returned from a long trip to Italy and spent 6 nights in Rome.

I was pleasantly surprised that crowds were not as large as I had expected based on all of the estimates for Jubilee.
Crowded yes, but likely not too much more than the last couple of years.

Some of the B&B and hotel staff I spoke with said that the press in Italy seems to indicate that crowds are no bigger this year. Speculation is that some have stayed away due to Jubilee.

So, I agree with go when it is best for you.

Just get tickets in advance for things that you can like Vatican, Colosseum, etc. We did that for all of our major items and had no issues in standing in long lines to get thru security at ANY of the major places.
The long lines are if you need to buy a ticket.

We purchased a Duomo lift ticket for St. Peter's (new option this year) and arrived at about 10am in the morning. We had a special line to enter and literally no one ahead of us. Got on the lift with no wait at the elevator!!

The new process at the Trevi fountain is Wonderful!
Lots of people there, but many not in line to get close to the fountain. We got in line and had a spot in front of the fountain in about 10 minutes!

It was hot when we were there, but that meant blue skies and great pictures.
Loved our trip and thanks to those in this forum for help with questions as I planned the trip.

Thanks for the input. We decided to play it safe and just chose another place for this autumn. We'll visit Italy in the spring and do what we had planned.
