Big article in WSJ about jubilee year. If you're not all booked up by February you're in rough shape, they say. And get outta Rome.
Yeah, we'll see. I thought the WSJ article was kinda fluffernutter to be honest. I am expecting maybe a 20% increase in tourist traffic. It'll be more crowded for sure.
However...just to be safe for our early April trip...we booked our AirBnB's in Florence and Rome way back in July, probably 3 months before I normally would. Tweaked around the itinerary so that we're not in Rome during Holy Week, but 2 weeks before, saving about 30% in cost on the lodging. Booked The Tour Guy for Vatican/St. Peter's, something I'd never do normally. Booked a couple restaurants in each place as well. Ordinarily in spring, I'd wing it.
But to 'get outta Rome'?! Please...it's my favorite city on the planet. I won't be visiting the Colosseum, Spanish Steps, Trevi. If things get too weird, I'll hop on a bus out of Termini to North Rome & see some mosaic.
