Jogging in Rome

I am travelling to Rome end of April and am hoping to get a couple of morning (not early) jogs in. We will be staying near Termini Station. Is jogging frowned upon? Will it be safe? Is there anything I should be aware of?

Unless you can jog in a big park (like the Borghese) the main challenge will be traffic, both human and motorized. There's no safety concern about being mugged, just about being hit by a car or Vespa.

I am a marathon runner and have run in Rome every time I visit. We stay by Termini and I have a couple of runs I usually do. Early morning I like to run down Via Nazionale to the Coliseum. If I want to run longer I add down toward the Circo Massimo and the Piramide. Another way to add distance is Via del Corso. These are all good early morning runs. Also.... Villa Borghese is good and you will see other runners. When I spent a few weeks in Trastevere I usually ran along the river.... always saw other runners. I always run by myself and have had no problems. Ran these routes two weeks ago. Running is not frowned upon and just be aware of your surroundings and you should be fine.

Good advice so far, but the OP expressly said these would not be early morning runs, hence my warning about traffic.

For daytime runs, Villa Borghese or the Circo Massimo. If you like hills, the Aventine is good.

After 9am, watch out for the Segway tours.

I stayed near Termini last year and did runs from the hotel to Villa Borghese. If I remember correctly it is about 1 mile to the park. I did these at 9 am, so there was a lot of car, vespa, and foot traffic. I took it slow and then once I got to the park I virtually had the park to myself. Just slow your pace down a little on the way to the park and you should be OK.

Villa Borghese would be a great place to jog as there's a ton of room, interesting things to see along the paths, and it's usually pretty quiet.

Saw plenty of joggers using the trail at Aquaduct Park. Jog round and thru the old roman aquaducts
