I will be in Florence for a day and then in Manarola for 2. I need to buy some jewelry, I think earrings, for my mom.If in Florence, should I go to the pont vecchio or somewhere else? I'm looking to spend about $100 or so. If not in Florence, could I get anything similar in one of the Cinque Terre towns? If so, where? Thanks!

Jewelry is everywhere. Just look until you find something you like. Keep in mind that 100 US is only about 70 - 75 Euro.

Most of the stores on the ponte vecchio are really expensive (and I thought much of the jewelry was pretty tasteless/gaudy). In Oct, I got some really attractive pieces at a store about 2/3 of the way across the bridge, on the left side when you're heading towards the Pitti Palace. Don't remember the name (sorry), but they had lots of attractive cloisonne pieces in the window. I got several of them as gifts, and the prices were no more than I would have paid for comparable pieces at home.
