Could someone please help me out by giving advice about visiting the Sistine Chapel, Vatican and St Peter's as well as the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. I need to know if the crowds are big enough that I should purchase advance tickets for these places and if so, what would you recommend? Just skip the line tickets or something else?
Thank you so much.
I was there first week January 2017 and the crowds at the Vatican sites are big enough that should absolutely purchase in advance.
I day in advance worked. Others will recommend https://www.walksofitaly.com/
We went in mid February and yes you should pre purchase tickets. We used took the Pristine Sistine tour through Walks of Italy (recommended here by many travelers) and also booked thier Colosseum tour.
There is two levels of tourism in Rome year around -- very crowded, and very, very crowded. Yes, of course.
Thank you to all!! I really appreciate all the responses.
Also if you want to take any small group tours, you should book as soon as you can. They aren't offered as often in low season, so they too get booked up.
