January in Naples/Sorrento/Positano

Wondering what weather will be like in this area at this time of year and if many shops/restaurants will be open? Will a boat ride to the Isle of Capri be possible? TIA for any info!

I was in Sorrento in February when Rome had snow for the first time in 25 years. The temps were mild, a little rain, a little sun. I didn't go to Positano or Capri. I believe the ferries to Capri run all year. Shops and restaurants in Sorrento were all open, just a couple of things were closed for the winter (the elevator from the center to the boats notably). I fell in love with Sorrento.

I visited Positano in December. Many restaurants and shops were closed. It is a very seasonal tourist town. I would suspect January would be the same.

Temps 50s-low 70s. Rain is possible so bring rain gear. Ferrys run to Capri year round.

There are plenty of things to do in Naples if the weather is inclement.

I was in Positano two weeks ago. We were told by locals that the town largely shuts down in the off-season. The locals work just about every day from Spring through Fall, so they take their well-deserved time off during the slow Winter months. All that said, it's a beautiful area. We'll definitely return.
