A mom and three boys (11, 16, 18) we will be in Rome for 7 days - which includes January 6 (Italian National Holiday) - right in the middle of our stay. Would this be a good day to leave Rome to take a train to Pompei/Sorrento or to Venice for an overnight? The boys enjoy trains and being on the move, so that's not a problem. If most things are closed indoors on January 6 - we are fine spending the day walking around outside looking at things as long as the kids can eat a few times. Thoughts on either of these cities on January 6? Are Christmas decorations still up?
