Its Airways

Just booked a flight on Ita from jfk to Rome. But now after reading more on the airline, a bit nervous on flying with them.

Anyone have any recent experiences taking Ita on a long flight? How was the carry on baggage situation? Ideally dont want to have to be forced to check in.

Thank you

Even without experience with this airline, I'd be prepared to comply with their carryon baggage limitations.
Don't want to check a bag; don't bring one over the size/weight specified on the website. Sizing includes the wheels.

If within the limits you won't be forced to check in. I've not flown with ITA since the airline was born from the ashes of Alitalia, but it's the same people working there, often the same airplanes, and even the same livery as Alitalia (they haven't done repainting them yet) and they never forced me to check in luggage within the specified carry on limits. I don't think ITA is likely to be any worse than most airlines.

I flew ITA in Sept & Nov 2022. Had a carry on (complied with their size) & a small backpack & I didn’t have any problems. Flights were on time, flight attendants professional & helpful, planes in good shape. Flew Boston to Brindisi via Rome with a return Brindisi Miami via Rome.
