My son just gave me his iTouch to take to Italy with me. Other than the RS audio tours, are there any other apps that I may need or want. I have never used an iTouch before.
Our friend has one and downloaded some city maps, hoping that will keep us from getting lost! Also, I think you can get email on those things as long as you are in a spot that has wifi.
I have a few suggestions. First, download movies onto your Itouch to keep you occupied on the plane, trains, buses & at night when you're in the hotel.
I also like the Tripit app. Tripit is a great way to organize your itinerary and keep all pertinent trip details in 1 place. I used this app throughout our 2-week trip to Italy last year. Normally I travel with lots of paperwork (print-outs of confirmations, phone numbers, directions, etc.) & Tripit allowed me to travel lighter with less paperwork.
Another suggestion is to load some games onto your Itouch (i.e. Solitaire, Mahjong, etc.) so that when you're waiting in lines you will have something to do. Have a great trip.
Sheree,
I'd suggest having your Son provide some instruction on the operation of the IPod Touch, so that you're "comfortable" with it BEFORE you leave.
I use the built-in weather App. and have add the cities that I'll be visiting. I also have a currency converter, some language dictionaries, Metro routes in London, Paris and Rome and an App that provides information on my flights.
And I have just been playing with my kid's to take with me to Shanghai and use as a phone. If you can get a WiFi signal (which will probably be yes in most places in Italy) you can use Skype to make and receive calls - definitely cool. I have it working, but I need to get a microphone or small headset so people can hear me.
There is a new APP, TUSCANY. It will only work when you are in the region. It shows info about the sights, places to eat, shop, transportation.
I downloaded it for future use (won't be in Italy this year)
My Iphone is wonderful for travel - you will enjoy your Itouch!
Thank you for all the wonderful ideas. We have the RS tours downloaded already! I will continue to investigate.
