We are in the early stages of planning our 2016 trip. The players will be my husband and I (celebrating our 30th anniversary) and another couple. We are in our early 50s, fit and up for lots of walking. Here's what we're thinking:
Day 1: Fly into Venice
Day 2: Venice
Day 3: Venice
Day 4: Venice
Day 5: Depart Venice for Cinque Terre (Monterosso). I am having trouble figuring out the train schedules and how long this leg is - any ideas? Note that this will be Easter Monday so we will definitely be booking in advance - once I figure out how ...
Day 6: Cinque Terre
Day 7: Depart Cinque Terre. Train to Pisa, where we will rent a car. After a look around Pisa, we will drive to our rental villa near Siena.
Day 8: Siena
Day 9: Siena (perhaps drive to Lucca for a few hours)
Day 10: Drive to Rome and return car.
Day 11: Rome
Day 12: Rome
Day 13: Rome
Day 14: Rome
Day 15: Fly out of Rome
We will be in Venice on Easter weekend. One of our party is a teacher and we are working around Spring Break, so the dates are not flexible. Will it be awful? We've intentionally left off Florence as the majority are not art buffs and we'd rather spend those days in the countryside this trip. It will be the end of March when we're in 5T and realize the weather will be iffy. But we have our hearts set on it. Thoughts? Train tips?
