I am going on the Best of Italy Tour that goes from Oct.1 to Oct.17. I am planning on heading out from Rome Oct 17 after seeing the Borghese Gallery and will be staying in Sorrento the nights of 10/17, 18, 19. I thought this would be a nice way to end to the trip on a quieter note. And at RS guidebook suggestion, I'll be using Sorrento as a home base to go see Capri (have booked on a Mondo private boat tour), as well as Pompeii; Pompeii is a must for me. I will leave for Naples 10/20 in the morning so I can see the archeological museum and am checking into a walking tour of the town for that afternoon (maybe 2 or 3 hours with a pizza break.😊 I am staying the night in Naples and flying out the next day. Thoughts on that itinerary? My only concern is that I might get worn out rather than rested, especially with Naples at the end. But my flight is already booked. Thanks in advance for any recommendations!
In talking with others on my BOI in that same time frame, we felt like the 2nd half of the trip was much busier than the 1st part although you’ve got the last 2 days pre-Rome at the agritourismo. I’m old but never really tired at the end of a tour. To me, though, Rome is overstimulating so Sorrento sounds lovely (although I’ve never been!!). I’d probably not book any activities unless you have to so you can see what you feel like doing!
Thank you for your thoughts!
After doing the BOI, we went to Sorrento and thoroughly enjoyed it.
I think you have a very good plan
Thank you. Do you think I'm trying to do too much daytripping? Capri, Pompeii?
Thanks again.
