Itinerary Suggestions for 10 Days

I am planning to go to Italy with my husband end of August. It will be his first trip. We would like to relax and swim the first few days in some place warm (Lake Como... if yes where?). I would prefer to do Rome on a different trip as we are looking to relax with less hustle and bustle. We would like to visit a maximum of 3 places. I have been to Cinque Terre previously, as well as Venice, Florence, and Sienna. We love being outdoors.

Thanks

Hi Heather,
Many people really like staying in Varenna on Lake Como. From there it's an easy train trip to Verona--a small, Italian city with lots of charm and great restaurants. I haven't explored the Dolomites but that would be an interesting area to visit--possibly base in Bolzano.

Those areas would be easy to access from Milan with not too much distance between cities.

Would you be interested in going down to the Amalfi coast? It's a really nice area (along with Capri), especially if you would like to swim, relax, and sip some lemoncello. Granted, I have no idea how crowded it will be around the end of August (pretty crowded I would assume, as everywhere will be, really), but I would definitely recommend it if you haven't been there. Sleep in Sorrento and use it as a base to visit Capri, Positano, Amalfi, Ravello, etc.

Thanks for the suggestions, I will check both those options out.

I was looking at photos of Bolzano and it reminds me of Austria, the architecture is similar to Salzburg.
