Itinerary suggestion for Amalfi coast,Sicily and maybe Malta

Hi, We are planning for a trip in May 2025 to explore Southern Italy with our 2 college going daughters. We have been to Pompei and spent a day in Naples in our last visit to Italy. What would be a good itinerary for 10 days to cover Amalfi coast and some of Sicily in 10 days? Please suggest and Thanks in advance for your valuable input and time!

Are you interested in Palermo side or Catania side? (Forget Malta) You'll have to be very selective about what in Sicily you can include, so I would decide that first.
I would look for a coastal place on Sicily instead of the AC, you'll make more of limited time that way.

Can you fly in or out of Palermo? If you can fly open-jaw NAP and PMO (or vice versa), it would help a lot! Otherwise, if having to fly back and forth from NAP, I would seriously reconsider the overall plan.
Are you set on including the AC? We need to know more about what you want to see. For example, how many days do you envision spending on on the AC? Any interest in returning to Naples, or just passing through?
Same questions for Palermo--just the city highlights or side trips too?

First off :- have to fly in and out of Naples from US- No plans to do any sight seeing in Naples
- I initially was planning first 5 days in Palermo and the next 5 days in Amalfi coast
- Girls are set on doing Amalfi so it is a sure thing

Stayed 4 nights in Malta (Oct 2024). Although interesting, I would stay in Italy and travel about there. All the top sights (beaches, fishing village) in Malta were busy/crowded. Valletta was very nice, but also very crowded. If you decide to go, we stayed at Waterfront Hotel in Sliema. It's looks directly across to Valletta, which is beautiful at night all lit up and can be viewed from the hotel rooftop bar/patio. From the hotel, it's a 5 minute walk along the seawall to the ferry that takes you across to Valletta. (For Italy, check out Taormina-beautiful hill town on Sicily). Happy travels ;)

Thanks, that helps!
You can plan to fly to PMO the day you arrive at NAP (others can advise on how long to wait between flights since they are booked separately), then on return to NAP, head to the AC. I think the 5-5 split makes sense, but you might need to stay in Naples the last night unless your flight is very late in the day (and that can still be risky).
You lose some time on the ground, but it accomplished your main goals.
