Itinerary Reasonable?

Family of 4 with young teens . Fly into Rome and spend 3 nights. Transport from airport to accommodations? Hotel or airbnb? And where in Rome is best for us to stay? We will be traveling light so it would be nice to have a washer.

We will then take a train to Sorrento to meet family who is also vacationing. They have a large house rented for all of us for 3 nights.

After that, we will travel north. We want to see Tuscany, Cinque Terre, and Florence in 5 days (one of these include travel from Sorrento). How would you spend the 4 nights? Im thinking Siena but not sure how to get around in Tuscany. I wish we had more time.

Any recommendations?

Not really reasonable. It is time consuming to go from Sorrento to Florence.
I would fly into Florence and work my way to Sorrento.

Agree about potentially flying into Florence as the above poster mentions. Have you already bought your flight?

4.5 effective days to try to see Florence, Tuscany, and Cinque Terre? Wayyyyyyy too much. I would eliminate Cinque Terre from your intinerary and save it for another trip. Florence and the greater Tuscany area has more than enough to keep you occupied for that time period.

You could fly into Florence. Spend all your nights in Florence and then easily take a day trip or two by train to Siena or one of the other Tuscan towns (Luca, Pisa, ect). Florence alone is good for 2-3 days. Then train from Florence to Rome. Spend your three days in Rome before moving onto Sorrento. At the end of the trip, you could fly out of Naples or return to Rome.

If you’re stuck because you’ve already bought flights. I would seriously consider just spending more time in Rome (more than enough there to occupy a week, much less three days) and then spend the rest of your time in the south. Could go to Positano. Could explore Naples. Pompeii/Herculaneum is near there. The Almafi Coast in general. And then still fly out of Rome or Naples.

11 days really isn’t enough time to try for all the places you want. We spent 18 days in Italy last year and only covered Rome, Florence, and Greater Tuscany. And even then, we could have spent a week longer there, had time allowed.

If it were me, I’d be picking north or south of Rome only. (Sounds like South would be your choice if you’re trying to meet up with family.) There is plenty in either region to keep you occupied, so you shouldn’t worry about filling your days.

After seeing your 2 previous posts, you are going in the right direction.... keep whittling, ...still too much for the time you have.

If the amount of time you can devote to this trip is fixed, then accept that and spend quality time in fewer places, rather than trying to 'do it all'.

After a long flight, being tired, suffering jet lag, and being on unfamiliar turf, nothing beats having a private driver to get you to the hotel. We've used Rome Cabs (not a cab company despite the name) numerous times, have always been pleased, and will use them again. We send an email detailing our needs and get a quote within twenty four hours. Their price is only a little more than a regular taxi and, in our opinion, is well worth the small extra cost. Just google them to get their web site.

Not sure what your budget is, but we have stayed at Hotel Fontanella Borghese many times and have always been pleased. While it is not "luxury", it is very nice and the location (near the Spanish Steps) is great. The staff is very friendly and helpful. You can walk to the Pantheon, Nuvona, even Vatican city, and of course the Spanish Steps, They also have a sister hotel closer to the Pantheon called Hotel Due Torri. We always send an email directly with our request for a booking and get an answer back in 24 hours or less. Ask for rooms overlooking the courtyard as rooms overlooking the side street can be noisy. The web site is www.fontanellaborghese.com.
