Itinerary Opinions La Maddalena, Sardinia then to Switzerland

Hello all-
I am travelling solo this summer from July 1st through the 19th. I am dividing my time between La Maddalena, Sardinia and Switzerland.

Overview of my "goals" for this trip: For me, this trip is all about nature and new experiences. I have my own snorkel gear, enjoy long ocean swims and hiking. I love to explore areas and soak up all the beauty of nature. Beaches are certainly my favorite place to be.

So, my question is this...
8 or 9 nights in LA Maddalena?
I land in Olbia at 6:15p on 7/1. That day is dedicated to travel. Leaving on the 9th (8 nights) will provide 7 full days. Leaving on the 10th (9 nights) will provide 8 full days.

Then, off the Switzerland for the rest. Starting in Zurich, then to Lauterbrunnen, then flying out of Geveva. Again, arriving here from Sardinia on the 9th will provide 9.5 days to experience or arriving the 10th will provide 8.5 days to experience. I leave from Geneva at 12:45p, so, not counting that day.

I know this may seem like a small detail to ask about, but considering I am solo travelling...well, I don't have a network of people to ask for this input.

In your experience and travels, what would be the better option?

Thank you!

I can't help you with Sardinia, but Switzerland is easy using frequent trains from Zurich airport to Lauterbrunnen and then to Geneva airport. Schedules at www.sbb.ch/en.

Other than that, what questions would you have?

Thank you, Sam. I fly out of Geneva to go back home on the 19th.

In your opinion, is this a good option for an itinerary: From Sardinia- fly into Geneva, then travel to Lauterbrunnen, spend three or four nights there. Then travel back to Geneva as a home base and do various day trips for the rest of the time. Places such as Chamonix, Annecy and Montreux.

I had considered flying into Zurich, then travelling to Lauterbrunnen, then to Geveva. But I haven't felt a strong pull to go there (Zurich). It would decrease the rest of my time to experience areas by 2 days if I did make the visit.

What are your thoughts? Am I missing out by passing on Zurich and filling that time with day trips on the other side of the country and France?

I makes no difference if you like Zurich or not. You are only using the airport and Zurich airport is 1 1/3 hours closer to Lauterbrunnen than Geneva airport.

Hi!

In my experience, I would suggest going with 8 nights in La Maddalena. Sardinia is such a large island with so much to explore. Plus, La Maddalena is beautiful, but there are other great places around Sardinia that are definitely worth visiting if you have a bit more time.

Just a heads-up—Palau is the only place where you can catch the ferry to La Maddalena, so be sure to factor in that travel time. You can have a look here for details for the route: https://www.ferryhopper.com/en/ferry-routes/direct/palau-la-maddalena

For Switzerland, I think 8.5 days should be enough to explore Zurich, Lauterbrunnen, and Geneva.

Safe travels :)
