itinerary Italy to Paris, what to do???

13 nights, where to spend them! 2 mothers, two 14 yr old girls. Fly into Rome, then Tuscany (stay where?), possibly Camogli (near Portifino), to Venice, end in Paris. Is there any of these cities/areas that 2 nights would be fine? Knowing that we can only hit highlights in this short time. We like people watching and walking around more than hours in museums, etc. Thanks!

Hi debbie. Your trip sounds exciting! For all of the areas you mention, two nights is better than no nights! However, keep in mind that much of each 2nd day will be taken up by travel, so you will really only have one full day in each place. You might consider picking a couple of the places to stay 3 nites. in my opinion, Venice is great, but a place where two nites / one day is enough. Enjoy your trip!

I absoutely agree that Venice can be allocated to a 2-night/1 full day stay. Most people are content to SEE Venice, rather than to get inside every church, museum, and palazzo. Keep it to Piazza San Marco, the Basilica and Doge's Palace, Rialto bridge, and a good deal of wandering (read as : getting lost in the maze of alleyways and loving it). The up-side of a shorter stay in Venice is savingsVenice is one of the more expensive Italian cities to visit and my euros/dollars buy more elsewhere....from lodging, to local transportation, to food......you get the idea. Your budget will thank you!

You have 13 nights and listed 5 destinations, most of which are not really close to each other. I would definitely cut back on that list; otherwise, a high percentage of your vacation time will be spent traveling from one place to another. Based on what my daughter has liked on our various trips to Europe, I would focus on Rome, Venice and Paris. She really likes art and museums, and that was a focus in all those locations, but she also loved walking around, sitting at cafes, and people-watching. Oh, and like her parents, she's a real foodie. I guess I'd have to ask her to be sure, but between those three places, and others that's she's visited, I think Paris was her favorite. She loved the feel of the city and its culture, the art and the food (none of us are big shoppers, so if that's an interest of your group, I can't help you there).
