Itinerary help - Lake Garda & Dolomites

After 6 days in Bologna, we will be heading to Lake Garda and the Dolomites mid June. We have 12 nights for these areas and 13gth night in Padua before flying home the next day. We want to do some biking and hiking in both areas. I would like to visit Verona along the way to Lake Garda and am not sure whether we should spend the night or stop along the way. I also am not sure whether to pick up the car and drive to Verona and take our time and maybe visit Mantua along the way, or take the train to Veronna and pick up the car there. I'm also struggling with whether I should take one night from Lake Garda, Ortesei or Cortina and stay 1 night in Bolzano. Right now the agenda is listed below and I'd really appreciate suggestions.

Verona - 1 night
somewhere mid point Lake Garda - 5 nights
Ortesei - 3 nights
Cortina - 3 nights
Padua - 1 night
Depart VCE the next day 12:30 flight - drop car at VCE

A night in Verona is a good idea.

For Garda I would recommend the town of Malcescine, at the base of Monte Baldo, for great hiking and also access to other towns by ferry.

I would not take a night from the Dolomites to stay in Bolzano; it is not in the mountains and is hot and humid in summer.

And personally I would spend all 6 nights in one location ( Ortesei), but I say that having never been to Cortina. Maybe others who have been to both can weigh in.
