Itinerary help Italy/Switzerland September 10 days

My husband and I are planning an anniversary trip in early September. I used to travel a lot, so he would like to go to places that I have not been to. My current idea is to fly into Zurich and out of Pisa. We are active, so I was thinking the following:

Thursday: overnight in Zurich or ?
Friday/Sat alps
Sun/Monday ?
Tuesday/We’d/Thurs Cinque Terre
Friday/Sat Pisa

Thoughts, suggestions? Ideally would like to travel by train.

Hi Jenny,

We flew into Zurich & immediately took the train to Wengen. Afterwards we took the train to Stresa for a couple of days in that beautiful area of Lake Maggiore w/ Isola Bella, etc. You won't want to leave Wengen, and that first day is a blur - stay 3 nights there.

Lucca is close to Pisa and a lot more interesting (you can stop at the leaning tower for photos). You could take a day-trip from Lucca into Florence or a nearby smaller village. Lucca is a 30-minute train to the Pisa airport.

3 nights - Wengen
2 nights - Stresa
2 nights - Cinque Terre
3 nights - Lucca

Thank you for the responses! We now have tickets into Zurich and out of Florence! Can you provide more ideas about Stresa? Hotel recommendations welcome. Grazie!

Info on Stresa, Lake Maggiore.

Be sure you take the lift to the top of the mountain. Cog train up to Lugano and ferry back. The islands are beautiful.

I see you're coming from Switzerland, if you can time it right you could take the ferry from Lugano.
