Itinerary Help: Italy and end in Paris

Hi All:

I initially posted an itinerary and someone suggested instead that I stay in Italy instead spending the middle days in Portugal. Starting in Rome and ending in Paris is a must, but I am open to any other suggestions. I would like to see Venice and CT.

What makes the most sense? I am a female solo traveler, late 20s, from NYC.

Thanks,
Naomi

You could probably do Venice after Rome. How are you planning on traveling? You could do 7 Jun travel to Cinque Terre and stay until the 9th leaving on an overnight train if it exists. Are you planning on flying to Paris?

(I realized after posting this I went from Venice first and then CT first.....my later post should make more sense.)

Yes, I will fly to Paris. Within Italy, I plan to take the train.

I'd probably go from Rome to CT to give myself a city break. Stay 2 nights, then go to Venice.

But you could do it either way, flying to Paris from either Venice or Genoa.

Since you are flying to Paris it will be easiest to end your time in Italy in Venice. Have you looked at your hotels yet. This is high season for tourism so it will be busy.

From what I can find it is 4 hours from Rome to CT by train so I would advise traveling in the early morning that way you have nearly the whole afternoon in CT.

It looks like you should plan on 6 hours from CT to Venice. My itinerary would look like this:

June 7 depart no later than 930 am and get to CT around 1330 (130) and check in to hotel or store luggage until can check in.

June 8 CT
June 9 CT
June 10 Depart CT morning by around 930 am again and get to Venice around 1530 (330 pm) probably a little later. Check in to Hotel. Make sure you stay on Venice proper not the mainland. Dinner and wander Venice.

June 11 Venice
June 12 Venice
June 13 try to get an afternoon flight since it should be relatively short flight.

I vote with katsrad, to go to CT then Venice.

Getting from CT to Genoa for a flight is a bit more of a logistical challenge, than getting to airport in Venice.
