Itinerary Help (Including Sardinia) Please! - 15 nights

Hello! I need some advice from this august body regarding an upcoming trip to Italy in September. There are two of us staying for 15 nights during the first couple of weeks of the month. We are flying into Venice and out of Rome. We have both been to Venice (for a brief time) and spent a good deal of time in Rome in the past and really want to spend a good bit of time in Sardinia during this trip. In light of this here is what we are thinking:

1) 4 nights in VENICE (then drive to Forence/Tuscany)
2) 3 nights in FLORENCE/TUSCANY (then fly to Sardinia)
2) 6 nights in SARDINIA (then fly to Rome)
3) 2 nights in ROME

Does that make sense? What amendments would you recommend?

Thanks in advance and I look forward to this conversation!

If you have scoped out the flights, then looks great. Of course if you stick with Florence, no car needed, and if you want rural Tuscany, you will need a car (as you most likely will on Sardinia). What are your Sardinia plans? It's high on my list!

Thanks. No hard plans for Sardinia yet. We definitely want to use it as the beach vacation that we cancelled in favor of this one so we are likely going to base ourselves in one area with the aim of relaxing as much as possible.

If you plan to stay in Florence, take the train from Venice and don't rent a car.
I like the north half of Sardinia best.

If you fell in love with Venice and want to see more outside of San Marco, then 4 nights is plenty time. But I wld personally spend a little more time in Tuscany - 2-3 nights in Florence; 1-2 nights in Siena. You will not regret staying Siena if you can!

Florence has severe traffic restrictions in the city center. You won't be able to drive or park inside the city center. You can rent a car on a day you want to venture out, however many locations are also reachable by train or bus. So it depends on what you want to visit.
