Tuscany and Campania Where to Go/Stay

My husband and I are traveling April 17-May 1st for our honeymoon.
April 18-20th Venice.
April 20th-22nd: Bologna.
April 22-25th: Tuscany
April 25th-28th: Campania
April 28th-May 1: Rome

Our Venice and Bologna Trips are booked and itineraries are set. We leave Bologna by 11am latest on the 22nd and take the train to our next destination.

Where should we head in Tuscany? We will be taking trains or busses and will not be renting a car (I haven't driven stick shift in 15 years and my husband never has). Where would your ideal 3 days be spent and what is the easiest way to travel in those places?

Next stop is Campania. We have heard Naples is a rough city. Would we be better off trying to find some place to stay on the Amalfi Coast, Sorrento or perhaps Positano?

Ideally, in both locations, we would like to have accommodations in one place and travel from there for the duration.

Grazie!

I think adding in Campania for 3 nights is stretching you too far. It takes awhile to get there! And you are short-changing Tuscany, IMO. Since you will not have a car, stay in Lucca for 2 nights, then transfer to Florence for 3 nights and add a 4th night to Rome. Rome requires more time, IMO, and that is after almost 5 years living there!

If Lucca does not appeal, Orvieto, on the way to Rome, is a lovely hill town for a couple of nights.

April 18-20, Venice

April 20-22, Bologna

April 22-24, Lucca

April 24-27, Florence

April 27-May 1, Rome

If we stay at a hotel in Florence, would we be able to take day trips to Lucca and Siena?

Yes, easily! All well explained in the Rick Steves' Guide. A few nights in Florence then a couple in Orvieto could be a perfect combo. Florence is lovely to walk around at night.

Thank you so much for this recommendation! We had never looked into Orvieto and after looking at Rick's guide- we cannot wait to visit!
